Austin’s Community Cello Choir
We welcome all ages and all abilities.
What is the Austin Cello Choir all About?
Hello!
The Austin Cello Choir is a group of non-professional cellists from all ages and abilities who come together each week to experience the joy of learning new music and playing together. We meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 at the Cherrywood Community Center. You are encouraged to attend all rehearsals, but stuff comes up and we understand.
We play a variety of music from from Rachmaninoff to Radiohead - there’s something for everyone!
The Austin Cello Choir has been under the direction of Tony Rogers (of the Global Cello Project) since 2011. He was joined by Carolyn Hagler in the fall of 2023.
Tony is on a sabbatical for the spring semester of 2025 caring for his parents, but plans to return in the fall of 2025. In the meantime Carolyn will be directing the ensemble.
And a quick about: Carolyn is a tenured cellist with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and director of the online cello academy, Cello Discovery™. She will continue leading the Austin Cello Choir during Tony’s sabbatical.
➡️➡️ We have two performances each year - one in the fall and one in the spring.
